My Experience in Working for Big Knob Audio and Brotherland Studio

I write this blog at 30 November 2009. Exactly 9 days before my internship time finished.

Well. I've to say that I'm such a lucky brats to work here.

I mean looking at the circumstances, this is a so called perfect place to do internship. What can a man expect?

- The office is at Sudirman Park. Blok B No.8, which mean that I only need to walk like 5 meters far to reach my campus.
- There's no office hour. Which mean that I can wake up a "little" bit late than other workers do. Well if you can say 3 hours are "little".
- There are lots and lots of important people in music industry here. Soloists, Bands, Music Arrangers, Music Directors, Mixing Engineers,   Mastering Engineers, Sound Engineers and others.
- There's no rules for clothing. I can wear anything I want. Well of course I always dress properly. I mostly wear t-shirt, jeans, and shoes there.
- The best part is, the people here, they don't underestimate me. They don't treat me as an internee. They treat if i were one of them. We work together, think together, doing things together.

I learn lots of things here. Things I don't get in campus like: customer handling, pressure handling, and music for sure. I used to be very "blind" (the Indonesian call it AWAM) in music industry. Well. I do like to sing and used to sing at school. But I know nothing about the music production process like recording, mixing, and mastering. Well I know recording, but mixing and mastering? Huff.

That's why I'm so thankful that I can do my internship here. Special thanks to Auntie Mira Arlina, a great and inspiring woman who introduced me to Big Knob Audio. Special thanks to Harmoko "Moko" Aguswan and "Opung" Irwan Simanjuntak, my big boss. And also special thanks to all Big Knob and Brotherland Crews: Sam, Mas Temmy, Mba Dyah, Angie, Andriy and Taufik, Anto, Randy, Sam, Reza, Om Hok Laij, Aldieen, Acui, Taufan, Mas Darma and Mas Wito for the help, support, kindness, and also lessons and experiences that you guys taught me.

Seriously, it's been a big pleasure for me to work with you guys.

I want to apologize for all of my mistakes. I know that I did lots of mistakes. I'm trying to do the best but it looks like my trial was not good enough. Actually, I was down for a while. When my project, Brotherland Newsletter, rejected by boss. But thanks to Sam, he helped me a lot with the motivation and advices. Then I realize that I don't need to be perfect to satisfy boss, all I need to do is to do exactly what he says and what he wants. There are no need to do more stuff. Just be focused on what I do.

My wise friend once said, "Man is a total jerk in multitasking." A short quote which means so BIG! Hmm. That quote wakes me up from my childhood dream. Me, who always want to do everything perfectly. Me, who always want to look perfect and smart in front of everyone. Me, who always want to be the best among others. Me, who always be the one who says, "I'm done bro, what about you? I'm sure mine is better than yours."

The lesson of life is the real teacher for me now. Thanks for everything guys. Thanks a lot.
